Mind in Mid Herts Receives Crucial Funding from Crane Charitable Fund
Mind in Mid Herts is delighted to announce a significant contribution from Crane Charitable Fund.
Staff at Crane Building Services and Utilities nominated and voted for us to receive this donation. This generous funding comes at a crucial time, providing vital support to continue our mental health services amidst challenging financial constraints.
Sharn Tomlinson, CEO of Mind in Mid Herts, expressed her gratitude, stating, “One of the wonderful things about getting this funding from Crane, especially at this time, as recently half of our funding was cut by North Herts District Council to run weekly local groups in Hitchin and Baldock. The donation from Crane is making a difference because we can use that funding to keep some groups running and make the phone calls that we know support people, staying in touch, because not everybody can get to our centre in Stevenage.”
“[It’s] been a valuable resource for us, with us able to roll out mental health peer support to the wider business and to give that opportunity for anybody who feels they want anything to discuss to come and speak to us.”
Crane Building and Services has been a steadfast partner, investing in Mind in Mid Herts training for a group of Mental Health Peer Supporters. We continue to meet and support the team of Mental Health Peer Supporters, reinforcing the collaborative effort in promoting mental health awareness and support within the workforce and community.
A representative from Crane highlighted the importance of this partnership, saying, “[It’s] been a valuable resource for us, with us able to roll out mental health peer support to the wider business and to give that opportunity for anybody who feels they want anything to discuss to come and speak to us.”
In the current economic climate, securing funding is increasingly challenging. Sharn Tomlinson emphasised, “In the current financial climate, funding is really challenging. And we’re also finding that statutory services are being cut. So there’s a massive waiting list. So the more we can get out to people, get in touch with them, so that they’re not sitting on a waiting list, or at least if they are (particularly for counselling), then we are keeping in touch.”
This funding will help sustain the critical work Mind in Mid Herts does, offering recovery and prevention services across Stevenage, St Albans, Hertford, and Hatfield. As Sharn Tomlinson notes, “Keeping that going is really, really important.”
