MIMH LGBT Poster_v1 (1)-page-001.jpgSome of us identify ourselves as LGBTQ, which means we may be lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer or questioning – or we may define our gender and sexuality in other ways.

LGBTQ people can be at a higher risk of experiencing a mental health problem than the wider population. If you are LGBTQ and have experienced mental health issues, you are not alone.
You might even experience discrimination, rejection, negative reactions or hostility from family members, friends, strangers, employers or members of the religious community. This can have a big impact on your self-esteem and mean you might feel unable to be open about your sexual or gender identity at work, at home or in the world at large. Therefore we would like to provide space for you to come and just be and also have the opportunity to talk about your emotional health and wellbeing.
Peer Support Services: For lesbians, gay men, bisexual and transgender people
 
Starting Tuesday 25th April

4 – 5.30pm drop in session
5.30 – 7pm Peer support group

‘Hearing voices’ is described as hearing a voice when no-one is present with you, or which other people with you cannot hear. Some people also see things that others can’t see. Others have touch, smell or taste sensations which they can’t explain in everyday ways. These experiences are called hallucinations.
People have many different experiences, some people don’t mind their voices while others find them frightening and distracting. It’s common to think that if you hear voices you must have a mental health problem, but research shows that lots of people hear voices and most of them are not mentally unwell. It’s a common human experience.
If you are having these experiences; would like support or to talk to others in a similar situation then please come along to our new support group

Five Ways to Wellbeing – The Healthy Hub, Lytton Way, Stevenage
 
Mental health should be everyone’s business and this course gives practical ideas of how to connect with others; keep learning; take notice and give back. The course helps build on the things you already do and learn and learn new skills.
 
This course encourages you to plan ahead and take control of the ups and downs of daily living.
 
The course runs in four parts 26th April, 3rd, 10th and 17th May. The course will run from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.
