Mind in Mid Herts run a DBT Lite training programme to support people to learn and develop DBT skills. Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) was developed to work with people with chronic thoughts of suicide and people diagnosed with emotionally unstable personality disorder. It has since been developed and shown to be an effective way of working with a variety of mental health diagnosis and presenting issues.
DBT Lite is not a DBT service or DBT Lite Programme group therapy, but an opportunity for those attending to learn new skills, providing new coping strategies and ways of responding to overwhelming emotions and distress.
The sessions cover:
Mindfulness – which supports to prevent habitual ways of responding
Distress Tolerance – supports people to manage difficult emotions
Emotional Regulation – develops an understanding of what causes emotions
Interpersonal Effectiveness – explores how to approach relationships differently
